The Tug of War International Federation (TWIF) has issued a call to all member associations, including Tug of War Ireland, to nominate one male and one female athlete for the 2026 TWIF Outdoor Athlete of the Year Award.
From the 1st of August, TWIF will launch a global social media campaign featuring each nominated athlete. Supporters from around the world will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite athletes, helping to recognise outstanding performances while promoting the sport to a wider international audience.
Nomination Requirements
Each member association is invited to submit:
- One male and one female athlete.
- Between 2 and 5 high-quality action and/or portrait photographs of each nominee.
- A short biography outlining the athlete’s achievements, years involved in the sport, and any notable accomplishments.
The winners will be announced and presented with the 2026 TWIF Outdoor Athlete of the Year Award during the 2026 Outdoor World Championships in Mossel Bay, South Africa.
The awards are part of TWIF’s ongoing efforts to recognise outstanding athletes while increasing the international profile of Tug of War through its global social media platforms.
